OPTIMISM IN THE DANISH CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY
Jul. 21, 2011 | Topic: Property and ConstructionAccording to a recent survey conducted by the unemployment insurance fund ASE, every third company in the construction industry expects financial growth in the third and fourth quarters of 2011, writes the Børsen daily newspaper
The atmosphere in the Danish building sector is one of anticipation that employment rates and revenues will rise as 36.7 percent of participants in ASE’s survey expect trade to improve in the last six months of 2011.
- The recent flooding has meant that tradesmen suddenly have plenty of work, says Jesper Bøge, Director of ASE in Brazil.
ASE’s survey shows that 15 percent expect to take on staff over the course of the next six months, while only 6.8 percent expect to reduce their number of employees.
- When people are hiring workmen, the majority are taking advantage of the tax deduction and having their living room repainted too. The positive figures for the construction industry could indicate that other areas of the private sector are approaching upswings as well, continues Jesper Bøge.
- During the second quarter of 2011 we have witnessed a dramatic boost in the Danish SMEs’ faith in their own future performance and the general Danish economy, adds Jacob Thiel, chief economist at the Danish Federation of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises.
The Danish Federation of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises’ annual business activity index has now reached the same level it was at prior to the global recession.
