CULTURE AND ATTRACTIONS

Quality of life is a key priority in Helsingør. Therefore there are plenty of possibilities for leisure time activities within culture, sports and outdoor recreational pursuits. Kronborg Castle is the most famous historic landmark of Helsingør and is the setting for many social and cultural activities. The old shipyard area in front of Kronborg is renovated and redesigned to form ‘the Culture Yard' (Kulturværftet). The Culture Yard includes a new library, theatre and concert hall as well as a café, meeting and conference facilities, and a media workshop.

Beautiful outdoor experiences
Situated by the sea, Helsingør has a long coastline. The maritime touch is present in more areas than the redesign of the shipyard. Ashore regattas take place during the summer. Helsingør and the neighbouring municipalities have some of the best beaches in Denmark, with activities all year round.

Away from the sea there are plenty of other opportunities for recreational activities, from the beautiful forests just outside Helsingør to the many golf courses in the area.

There are three famous castles in close proximity to Helsingør and just south of Helsingør is the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. Helsingør boasts a number of museums including the Museum of Aviation, and is also home to the Øresund Aquarium. There are also a variety of festivals and concerts within all genres throughout the year.

Helsingør city centre has a cosy atmosphere with many small, specialist shops, cafes and restaurants.
